What to Do?

After the Hurricane

Take the following precautions after the hurricane is over:
  • Keep calm and follow the recommendations of the Civil Defense.
  • Give first aid where appropriate.
  • Return home only after authorities advise that it is safe to do so.
  • Report any breakdowns to the nearest Electric Power Authority Office or call 787-289-3434 or 1-800-981-2434. Or use their Internet address: www.aeepr.com
  • Don’t touch electric power lines that may have fallen in or outside your house.
  • As soon as the electric service is restored, unplug your emergency generator and reconnect the service in your home, making sure the installation has not suffered any damages.
  • Don’t try to handle any electrical repairs by yourself and under no circumstances touch any wet electric equipment or step on a wet surface while handling it. If you notice anything strange, call a professional.
