PR factory lands $77M Army contract

By CB Online Staff

Puerto Rico’s SNC Manufacturing has been awarded a maximum $77.3 million contract to make Army combat uniform coats.

The Orocovis-based operation beat out 10 other bidders for the Defense Logistics Agency.

U.S. military apparel manufacturing remains the key driver of the island’s once-thriving textile industry.

In other defense contract news, AGVIQ Inc. of Anchorage, Alaska, is being awarded $8.9 million for cost-plus-award-fee task order under a previously awarded environmental remedial action contract for landfill cap work at the former Naval Station Roosevelt Roads in Ceiba.

Work is expected to be completed by November 2015.
