Cheesecake Factory coming to PR

By CB Online Staff

The Cheesecake Factory is coming to Puerto Rico as the island’s restaurant scene continues to attract national chains.

The Cheesecake Factory is entering the local market in fall 2013 with a 10,000 square-foot location at San Juan’s Plaza Las Américas, the largest shopping center in the Caribbean.

The new eatery is expected to employ more than 150 people. It will join P.F. Chang’s and Applebee’s as the latest national chain restaurants to open at Plaza Las Américas.

“I am pleased to confirm that this is becoming a reality after more than year of conversations and meetings,” Plaza Las Américas chief Jaime Fonalledas said of the new Cheesecake Factory.

“Both businesses share a commitment to excellence,” Fonalledas said. “Plaza Las Américas evaluates its tenants very carefully and The Cheesecake Factory analyzes deeply the markets it is considering.”

There are roughly 170 Cheesecake Factory locations around the U.S.

“We are thrilled to continue our global expansion with the opening of our first restaurant in Puerto Rico and anxious to join an impressive group of tenants at Plaza Las Américas,” said David Overton, founder and CEO of The Cheesecake Factory.
